This year, MULS has undergone a complete transformation in how we support and develop our members’ commercial awareness.

This year, MULS has undergone a complete transformation in how we support and develop our members’ commercial awareness. We are taking the initiative to rely less on what we can get from firms, to what we, as Committee Members who have been successful in securing training contracts, vacation schemes, insight schemes, and open days, have practically learned that translates into useable and tested advice that is guaranteed to support our members in being successful in application processes, competitions and generally
in demonstration of their critical thinking skills.

Our entire committee is full of approachable figures who have a range of backgrounds and experiences and this goes to directly influence the way we are able to plan our member offering.

This society is the best I’ve seen at engaging non-law students! They have a specific non-law social media and a very thorough non-law guide with all the information you need on converting to law and understanding the industry.

“This society is the best I’ve seen at engaging non-law students! They have a specific non-law social media and a very thorough non-law guide with all the information you need on converting to law and understanding the industry. They’ve also hosted brilliant non-law events with other academic societies, which are very illuminating and helpful.”

Our objectives are to enhance our members’ experiences of university life and to help provide and excellent grouding for a legal career. We do this by considering a 3 pillar approach of: Academic guidance and support – liasing with the Students’ Union course representatives and staff of the School of Law to ensure our courses are running smoothly!

LULS has focused on putting on events with a difference this year, that students wouldn’t be able to get anywhere else. We are looking to ensure that our members are as employable as possible. We have vastly increased our offering as a law society this year and wish to improve even further next year!

“The society is absolutely incredible in aiding non-law students. They’ve hosted a range of specific events that aim to engage non-law students and help them navigate the industry. They’ve also explained how to sell yourself as a non-law student and given us lots of tips on how we can transfer the skills gained from our non-law background.”
