“This event was appropriately priced, well managed and fun – despite it being a virtual event! It was such a creative idea and really engaging.”

Our most recent LawSoc x Cocktail Masterclass held for our Christmas social was our best social event. The pandemic has allowed the committee to engage more with online socials, thinking innovatively to ensure that we can replicate our in-person socials’ success on an online footing.

Best social event

LawSoc is not just a society, but a family, where members' support is incredible, which we all agree has helped in all aspects of university life. This year's committee is the strongest yet and is determined to push the boundaries of what LawSoc is capable of.

“It was a great way to network in a formal yet relaxed setting. Sometimes speaking to legal professionals can be daunting but the nature of this event was very positive and comfortable, which in turn made me feel more confident.”

As a committee we were frantically trying to come up with a viable alternative this year. We quickly came onto the topic of Cheese and Wine. The event ran smoothly with many professionals commenting that it was the largest event that they had attended.

Best careers event

We believe that the Lincoln Law Society is great for many reasons. Despite the virtual nature of the events and the competitions, we have still built a sense of community. We have a friendly and collaborative atmosphere.

“There is constant communication with society members via email and social media, and committee members are only ever a message away. The society frequently uses polls to ask for our opinions and interests regarding career events and social activities. In addition, it works tirelessly to run exclusive career events for its members in order to give us an advantage when pursuing a legal career. There is never a shortage of events to take part in and they really do their best to support all aspiring solicitors.”

“This society is absolutely exceptional in its offering to aspiring barristers. Mentorship schemes with established barristers, marshalling schemes, mini-pupillage guidance, mooting training, networking opportunities, a podcast, and panel events about life at the Bar have all have massively aided my understanding of what is required to become a barrister.”
