It was a celebration of culture, diversity and community, bringing people together through delicious food from different cultures, dance performances and a lot of fun activities. It felt like home and I think this is something that people who were homesick enjoyed. It was a great opportunity to meet new people and make friends with people who have similar interests, while also raising more than £1,000 for charity.”

Our engagement thrives through groundbreaking social events, such as the cultural night, which united a range of cultures in a way never seen before. Events like these have transformed the experience of Black and minority ethnic law students, helping them to connect with one another and students from other disciplines to foster a strong community rooted in belonging and shared experiences.

Our most recent LawSoc x Cocktail Masterclass held for our Christmas social was our best social event. The pandemic has allowed the committee to engage more with online socials, thinking innovatively to ensure that we can replicate our in-person socials’ success on an online footing.

We provide opportunities in the commercial field as well as other legal career paths, the scope of which reach careers in the UK, the Middle East, Asia and Africa.

We are 12 students from all years at the Committee this year. It has been a great pleasure to work with them so far as they are all very hardworking, committed and humble individuals. Despite being full-time students, they have always been fully committed to the society. Without their efforts and kindness, our society would not be as strong as it is. I cannot thank them enough for all the work they perform.
